Sukiyaki Ingredient Hunt

Materials

• Five types of sukiyaki ingredient cards, with at least as many of each type as there are teams
• An opaque bag
• One pot picture per team

How to play

1. Give each team a pot picture. Identify the five ingredient types, such as meat, green onion, tofu, shirataki noodles and egg.
2. One representative per team plays rock–paper–scissors against the facilitator. Only representatives who win draw one card from the bag and bring it to their team.
3. Put cards on the pot picture. Keep duplicates too, and check which types are still missing.
4. Rotate representatives and repeat. A team completes its pot with all five types. After 10 minutes or when the bag empties, teams exchange missing cards to work toward everyone finishing.

Ways to adapt

Preschool children: three types and adult support for representatives. Younger primary school children: five types. Older primary school children: allow time to trade duplicates.
