Japanese name: あと出しじゃんけん
Materials
- None
How to play
- Face the facilitator, sitting or standing with a clear view of their hand.
- First announce “Make a hand that beats mine.” The facilitator reveals a sign; players wait one beat, then show a winning sign.
- Against rock, show paper; against scissors, show rock; against paper, show scissors. Practice slowly three times.
- Next announce “Make a hand that loses to mine.” State the winning or losing task before each reveal.
- Pause after 5–10 rounds. Mistakes do not exclude anyone. A willing child becomes facilitator for another round.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: winning hands only. Younger primary school children: separate winning and losing rounds. Older primary school children: add matching hands for a tie.
