Air-Cannon Target Game
Japanese name: 空気砲の的あて
Materials
- One cardboard box with all gaps sealed except a round opening
- Three lightweight paper targets folded to stand
- A target table
- Floor-marking tape
How to play
- An adult cuts one round hole about 5–8 cm across in a box face and seals other gaps. Test at close range that air can knock down a light paper target.
- Stand three targets on a table, facing no people. Aim the box opening from about 50 cm away. Players take turns holding the box.
- Gently press or tap its sides with both hands so air from the hole knocks targets over. Do not throw the box or touch targets with it.
- Take three attempts each and count fallen targets. Move closer if needed to test airflow. Waiting players stay away from the table.
- After everyone tries, change just the distance or pressing force and test again. Compare, then tidy the box and targets.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: an adult supports the box near a target. Younger primary school children: main rules. Older primary school children: record results at different distances.
