Materials

  • Six plastic bottles with secure lids
  • One soft ball
  • Tape for a rolling line

How to play

  1. Arrange six bottles in triangular rows of 1, 2 and 3. Mark a rolling line about 2 m away and adjust bottles so they are not too hard to knock over.
  2. One player rolls from behind the line. Do not throw upward or roll while anyone is near the pins.
  3. Leave fallen pins down for a second roll. The total pins knocked over across both rolls is the turn’s score.
  4. Once all balls have stopped, the pin-setter resets the pins. The next player waits until the setter is clear.
  5. Give everyone two turns and compare total scores. Take turns resetting pins too.

Ways to adapt

Preschool children: start about 1 m away. Older primary school children: discuss pin arrangements.
