Create a Three-Scene Skit
Japanese name: 三場面の創作寸劇
Materials
- Paper and pens for planning
- A clock
- Chairs or small paper props if needed
How to play
- Form groups of 3–6 in an area away from the fire. Mark the performance and audience areas. Share roles such as characters, narration, and scenery according to participants' wishes.
- Choose a familiar fictional event and create three scenes: beginning, problem, and resolution. Start with an easy-to-explain story, such as searching for a lost hat.
- Create your own short lines and decide who does what in each scene. Note only the sequence on paper; do not copy scripts from existing plays or videos.
- Practise for 5–8 minutes, then give each group up to 90 seconds to perform. Change scenes on the narrator's cue and finish with a shared bow. The audience applauds at the end.
- After all groups, share one scene that came across clearly or one example of cooperation. Tidy up to finish. Do not score acting ability; seated acting and narration count too. Swap roles by choice if continuing.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: make one movement to an adult’s narration. Younger primary school children: use pictures to check the three scenes. Older primary school children and adults: develop the lines and plot. Everyone can also act with upper-body movements while seated.
