Chapter 2 · Indoor Games

No.44

Spot the Changes

Japanese name: 変わったところ探し

Materials

  • Props such as hats and cloths
  • A clock

How to play

  1. One model wears props such as a hat or cloth. Others observe for 30 seconds, focusing on prop positions rather than bodily features.
  2. While observers turn away, the model changes one thing, such as removing a hat or moving a cloth from the right hand to the left.
  3. Turn back on the signal. Point to or describe the change; the model confirms it.
  4. Change models until each volunteer has tried. You may change objects on a table instead of someone’s appearance.

Ways to adapt

Preschool children: one obvious change. Younger primary school children: 1–2 changes. Older primary school children: up to 3. Use the tabletop version to avoid having to stand before the group.
