No.188

Match the Poses

Japanese name: ポーズ合わせ

Materials

  • None

How to play

  1. Face one another in groups of 2–3, far enough apart that moving arms and legs will not touch anyone. Begin with a familiar prompt, such as a cat.
  2. The facilitator calls the prompt. Without discussing it, each person plans a pose and reveals it together on “Ready, go!”
  3. Matching features count as a success. If poses differ, participants may explain what kind of cat they imagined, but only if they wish.
  4. Try 3–5 prompts. Allow a short discussion only before the final attempt; applaud a shared pose and finish.

Ways to adapt

Preschool children: pair with an adult. Younger primary school children: animals. Older primary school children: sports or actions. Seated poses work too.
