Mind's-Eye Camera
Japanese name: 心のカメラ
Materials
- Nothing in particular
How to play
- In pairs, choose photographer and camera roles. Both keep their eyes open while walking along an adult-approved safe route.
- The photographer chooses a natural scene and describes where the camera should stand and which direction to face.
- Once both are completely still, the camera closes their eyes. On the photographer’s “Now!”, open them for 2–3 seconds to view the scene.
- The camera describes remembered shapes and colors. The photographer briefly explains their choice.
- Swap roles and choose another scene. Finish by sharing one memorable mental photograph with the group.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: view scenes through a hand-made window. Older primary school children: add a short sketch if desired.
