What's Falling? Action Game
Japanese name: おちたおちた
Materials
- None
How to play
- Choose a caller who sits where everyone can see. Demonstrate three actions for different falling things.
- For “Thunder,” cover your belly button with both hands. For “Stone,” shield above your head with a hand. For “Apple,” pretend to eat. Do not actually strike the head or body.
- The caller says “Something is falling,” pauses, then names one of the three. Everyone makes its action.
- Check together before the next call. Nobody sits out for mistakes. Change callers after 8 calls.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: start with stone and apple. Younger primary school children: three choices. Older primary school children: invent a fourth action together.
