No.6
Tail Tag
Japanese name: しっぽ取り
Materials
- One short towel or cloth tail per player, loosely tuckable into a waistband
- Playing-area markers
How to play
- Tuck a cloth loosely into the back of your waistband as a tail. Do not tie it to clothing or the body, and keep it short enough not to drag.
- Start on the signal and collect other players’ tails inside the playing area. Do not hold your own tail or grab clothing.
- Keep collected tails in your hand; do not snatch them back. Players who lose their tail may continue collecting others.
- Stop after 1 minute. Count the tails collected and check whose original tail remains.
- Return each tail to its owner, rest briefly and play again. You may compare individual totals or set a shared goal for the whole group.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: collect an adult’s tail. Older primary school children: play in teams.
