Greengrocer's Clap Game

Materials
- Vegetable or other item picture cards if needed
How to play
- Choose a caller and sit facing them. First agree that this pretend greengrocer sells vegetables only.
- The caller names an item. Clap twice for vegetables such as radishes or cucumbers; for an umbrella or shoes, keep still and make a small X with your arms.
- Check whether each item belongs in the shop. Discuss uncertain items and agree before continuing.
- Change callers after 8 items. Mistakes do not eliminate anyone. Try another shop, such as a bakery, next.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: show picture cards. Younger primary school children: decide from spoken items. Older primary school children: choose the shop theme and prompts yourselves.
