No.98
Beanbag Basket Toss
Japanese name: 玉入れ
Materials
- 20–30 soft beanbags per team
- Stable baskets or boxes
- Throwing lines
How to play
- Give each team equal numbers of beanbags and baskets. Use a floor box for preschool children and a comfortably reachable height for primary children.
- Stand outside the throwing line and toss toward the basket on the signal. Do not stand directly underneath it.
- Retrieve fallen bags to throw again, but if someone is nearby, wait before throwing so you do not throw at a collector.
- Stop after 30 seconds to 1 minute, holding any remaining bag. Throws released after the stop signal do not count.
- Count successful bags together. The higher total wins; equal totals are a draw. Swap baskets and repeat.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: a box on the floor. Older primary school children: increase distance.
