Silent-Action Relay
Japanese name: ジェスチャー伝言
Materials
- Action prompt cards
How to play
- Sit in a line of 4–6, all facing forward. Pass the message from back to front. The facilitator shows only the last person an action prompt, such as brushing teeth.
- The last person signals the person directly ahead to turn around. Face each other and demonstrate the action once without words. Everyone else keeps facing forward.
- The person who watched now signals the next person ahead to turn and demonstrates what they understood. Do not return to earlier players to check. Continue the same process to the front.
- The front person announces what action they think it was. Compare it with the original prompt and review the movements together. Change the seating order and finish after about three prompts.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: copy an adult in a pair. Younger primary school children: four-person lines. Older primary school children: link two actions in one prompt.
