Mirror Game
Japanese name: かがみ遊び
Materials
- None
How to play
- Face a partner with enough space that your arms cannot touch. Choose a leader and a mirror.
- The leader makes slow, followable actions, such as raising hands or moving them sideways. The mirror matches as a reflection would.
- Stay on the spot; avoid fast spins or standing on one leg. Stop after 30 seconds and swap roles.
- Take two turns each. Finally, try moving together without a chosen leader and discuss which actions were easiest to match.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: an adult leads. Younger primary school children: use only hands. Older primary school children: try moving as mirrors without deciding a leader.
