No.102
Spoon Relay
Japanese name: スプーンリレー
Materials
- Blunt-ended spoons or ladles
- Soft balls
- A turning marker
How to play
- Form a queue per team. The first player balances a ball on a hand-held spoon and checks the turning point 3–5 m away.
- Walk on the signal, keeping the ball on the spoon. Never hold the spoon in your mouth.
- On a drop, stop and replace the ball by hand before continuing. Do not run after it or take another team’s ball.
- Stop on returning, then transfer the ball to the next player. Hand transfer is allowed if needed.
- Finish when everyone completes the route. Change order and try improving the number of drop-free carries.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: use a large ladle. Older primary school children: adjust ball and spoon size.
