Tag Rugby: An Introduction
Japanese name: タグラグビー入門
Materials
- A soft rugby ball
- One tag belt with two tags per player
- Bibs and cones
How to play
- Make two teams and mark a scoring area at each end. Attach one tag on each side and agree to avoid body contact.
- Start at the center with a pass to a teammate behind. You may run with the ball, but pass only sideways or backward.
- A defender removes a ball-carrier’s tag and calls “Tag!” The ball-carrier stops and passes to a teammate.
- Return the removed tag to its owner; the player must refit it before rejoining play. Four tags, a dropped ball, out-of-bounds or a forward pass give possession to the opponents at that spot, with the tag count reset to zero.
- Enter the opponents’ scoring area with both feet and place the ball with both hands for 1 point. Return to the center, let the opponents restart, and compare scores after 3 minutes.
Ways to adapt
