Three-Hint Quiz
Japanese name: スリーヒントクイズ
Materials
- About ten picture cards showing animals or objects
How to play
- Lay familiar picture cards face up. Choose a clue-giver, who secretly selects one picture.
- The clue-giver thinks of three features without naming the answer. For example: “It is food,” “You peel it,” and “It is yellow.”
- Give the three clues in order. Listeners wait until the final clue, then point to their chosen pictures simultaneously on the signal.
- Reveal the answer and discuss which clues helped. Change clue-givers and finish after everyone has had one turn.
Ways to adapt
Preschool children: begin with 3–4 pictures and two clues. Younger primary school children: use about ten pictures. Older primary school children: turn the pictures face down and guess from words alone.
