Attacking team: run outside your teammates.
B
Defending team: pass the ball along the line.

Materials

How to play

  1. Divide into attacking and defending teams. Attackers form a small circle with a running route around its outside. Defenders wait in a separate ball-retrieval area.
  2. One attacker throws underarm towards an unoccupied part of the defending area, then runs around the outside of their teammates’ circle. Each completed lap earns one point.
  3. Defenders form a single line behind the person who retrieves the ball. Pass it from front to back, alternating over the head and between the legs.
  4. The last defender calls “Stop!” on receiving the ball. The runner stops. Count only fully completed laps, not a partly finished lap.
  5. Swap attacking and defending teams and repeat. Choose a different thrower-runner each time. Finish when everyone on both teams has taken that role once, then compare total points.

Ways to adapt

Younger primary: walk the laps and pass only at waist height. Older primary: alternate overhead and between-the-legs passes. Keep team sizes as equal as possible.
