Yes-or-No Questions
Japanese name: イエスノー質問ゲーム
Materials
- Paper
- Pencil
- Counters or marks to track the number of questions
How to play
- Choose an answer-setter, who secretly selects an animal or everyday object, writes it down, and keeps the paper face down. Limit answers to things everyone knows.
- Others take turns asking yes-or-no questions, such as “Is it alive?” or “Is it used indoors?”
- The answer-setter replies “Yes,” “No,” or “I don't know.” Briefly record questions and answers to avoid repeating them.
- An attempted guess also uses one question. Try to identify the answer within 20 questions. Reveal it when guessed correctly or after question 20, then change answer-setters.
Ways to adapt
Younger primary school children: choose from six visible picture cards. Children in the middle primary school grades and up: use 20 questions. Older primary school children may agree on different questioning roles.
