Materials

  • 1 model picture made by the facilitator
  • A3 paper and pens for each team
  • A screen to hide the model
  • A timer

How to play

  1. Make one original model picture, for example a house with two trees on its left, a sun at the top right and a round pond in front. Place it on a separate table and give teams drawing paper.
  2. One viewer from each team walks over and studies the model for 20 seconds. No photographs, notes or paper may be taken back. Viewers return relying on memory.
  3. The returning viewer describes the shapes and positions aloud. The viewer must not draw; the other team members draw from the description and may ask questions.
  4. Rotate viewers for a total of 8 minutes. Only one person per team may view the model at a time. Arrange turns so everyone gets to view it at least once.
  5. At the end, reveal the model and compare shapes, quantities and positions. If scoring, use only criteria announced before starting. Finish by reflecting on communication.

Ways to adapt

Older primary: start with three elements. If moving between tables is difficult, the facilitator can show the model to each team in turn.
