Materials

  • A marked circle
  • Paper-tape tails loosely tucked into each player’s waistband, plus spares
  • A whistle or voice signal

How to play

  1. Four players stand at equally spaced points around a large circle. Tuck a paper-tape tail into the back of each waistband; do not tie it to the body.
  2. On the signal, move in the same direction around the circle and try to collect the tail ahead of you. Do not cut across the middle.
  3. Keep collected tape. If you lose your tail, step outside, fit a spare and safely rejoin from your original position.
  4. The caller signals every 5–10 seconds. Everyone stops before reversing direction, exchanging whom they chase and who chases them.
  5. Stop after 30 seconds and compare collected tails. Rest fully, change starting positions and try again.

Ways to adapt

Preschool children: everyone walks. Keep rounds short even with older primary school children.
