Materials
- A Mölkky set: 12 numbered skittles, a throwing pin and throwing-position marker
- A score sheet and pen
How to play
- Pack the skittles in four rows, viewed from the throwing side: 1–2 / 3–10–4 / 5–11–12–6 / 7–9–8. Mark a throwing line about 3.5 m away and choose the player or team order.
- Throw underarm from behind the line. Everyone waits until the throwing pin stops. Knocking down exactly one skittle scores its number.
- Knocking down two or more scores the number of fallen skittles. A skittle leaning against another skittle or the throwing pin is not fully down and does not count. Confirm the score aloud.
- Stand fallen skittles upright where they fell, retrieve the throwing pin and change turns. Keep the spreading arrangement rather than resetting the original formation.
- Exactly 50 total points wins. Exceeding 50 resets the score to 25. Three consecutive zero scores eliminate that player or team from this round with a score of zero. The last remaining side also wins. Everyone returns next round.
Ways to adapt
Younger primary: shorten the distance. For a group avoiding elimination, announce beforehand a modified rule: three consecutive zero-scoring turns lead to one skipped turn, then return.
