How to play

  1. Mark a 6 × 4 m rectangle, divided halfway across its length and width into four cells. Form teams of four. Three defenders take one horizontal line each, including the near and far edges; the fourth guards the central lengthwise line.
  2. The four attackers start outside the near end. Their goal is to cross the court, leave beyond the far end and return to the near end without being tagged.
  3. Defenders move only along their assigned line. To tag, keep both feet on the ground and gently touch an attacker’s upper arm. Do not push or chase off the line.
  4. Tagged attackers wait outside. An attacker leaving through a side boundary also finishes that turn. Completing the round trip scores one point; that player then waits outside.
  5. Swap attacking and defending when all attackers have scored or been caught, or after 3 minutes. Each team attacks twice; compare total points. First walk through the routes and line assignments.

Ways to adapt

Younger primary: walk, without the central-line defender. Older primary and adults: four defenders and an out-and-back route.
