Materials

How to play

  1. Put all four counters in your colour’s waiting area and choose the order. Roll once on your turn. A six allows you to enter one counter onto your starting point.
  2. Use the whole result on one counter, moving in the arrow’s direction. With six, either enter a counter or advance one by six steps. In either case, roll again.
  3. Landing exactly on an opponent sends it back to its waiting area, where it needs a six to re-enter. Friendly counters may share a point but do not form a blocking wall.
  4. After one circuit, enter your own coloured home path towards the centre. Never use another colour’s home path. Reaching home requires the exact remaining number.
  5. If no counter can use the result, change turns. First to bring all four home wins. For a shorter game, agree before starting to use only two counters.

Ways to adapt

Younger primary: two counters. Older primary and adults: four.
