Materials
- Floor tape
- A facilitator to count three beats
How to play
- Put two parallel tape lines on the floor, 30–40 cm apart. Stand astride both, with one foot outside each line. Leave plenty of space between players.
- The facilitator slowly counts “one, two, three”. First keep your feet still and listen to the repeating three-beat pattern.
- On one, make a small jump to land with both feet between the lines. On two, make another small jump inside. On three, open your feet to land outside the two lines again.
- Repeat the three-beat pattern four times. If jumping is difficult, stand beside the lines: tap one foot inside on one, inside again on two, then return it outside on three.
- After four patterns, swap with the counting person. Once comfortable, try eight patterns together and finish. Prioritise small movements and balanced landings over speed.
Ways to adapt
Younger primary: one-foot in–in–out taps. Older primary and adults: small two-footed jumps.
